Statement to voters

This election has no bearing on UK Government.

Full statement

However, it will affect who represents you locally, at Sefton Council.

I have lived in Maghull East (formerly known as Sudell Ward) for the majority of my life. As do my extended family. My children attend schools in the area. I know Maghull inside and out.

I am currently a Town Councillor, sitting on Maghull Town Council as the Leader of the Maghull Community Independents. I am visible in the community, as a volunteer and facilitate some if the local Facebook Community groups.

Community spirit is something that makes Maghull stand out from a lot of other areas of Sefton. With this in mind, our community needs are inherently important to me, and I have seen far too many times, that residents concerns have been either ignored, dismissed, or downplayed by the current representation.

That needs to change...

Our town is expanding at an alarming rate. Many are unable to obtain GP appointments, even more can't register with a dentist. Our roads are crumbling and all we get is weak promises from Sefton Labour. They have historically chosen to allow extensive house building in the area, without investing in the infrastructure it desperately needs.

I know how local systems and processes work. I am a problem solver. I have been a Civil Servant with nearly 20 years service, mainly involved in public services at a national level. I have a proven track record of successfully addressing issues, whilst giving clear communication and transparency throughout to residents. To solve many of the local issues we have, that requires dealing with the root causes where the decisions are made that affect us all. I pledge to be proactive in making sure the money promised to us via S106 Developer Contributions are spent, instead of sitting with the council making no change for the better. Its taking too long. We deserve better.

I will be a strong, unbiased voice for you all. Not being restricted by party politics, I can represent you all fairly. Sefton Labour have blindly backed their national party lines, which have all been catastrophic choices such as the Winter Fuel payments, the WASPI women, allowing planning that decimated our greenbelt spaces.

I could go on.

I pledge to you:

I will be visible and accountable to the people I represent.

I will be visibly active in our community all year round, supporting all projects that contribute social value for all ages.

I will fight to make sure Developer contributions held by Sefton, are spent to address the rising populations needs, and campaign to get the health centre we have been promised but has yet to come to fruition.

As a resident myself who pays Council Tax for the area I wish to represent. I want to see real value for my money. And yours too!

Again this Election has 0% bearing on who represents us at UK Government level.
