I think it is important to make the distinction between national issues and the local issues in the election. There are many things that we would like to change at a national level, but at a local level we are primarily dealing with services.
I will commit to working with my fellow councillors in the first term to:

• provide the first hour of parking on council sites in Guildford free with an hourly rate afterwards to help more people support our local town businesses;
• resurface the worst 24% of all roads in West Surrey, not patch potholes poorly;
• bring the garden waste bins within the normal refuse collection system, saving people money; and
• working to retain more of the money you pay in council tax within Surrey.
  I'm a chartered accountant who has spent his career working in large multinational businesses and I would use my experience in the council particularly on financial matters.
