Stuart is a district councillor representing Ashburton & Buckfastleigh on Teignbridge. He is the postmaster in Ashburton and runs the "Outreach", a post office in a van that visits several rural communities on Dartmoor and in the rural areas around Newton Abbot.
He is a tireless local campaigner who has run a cost of living workshop for residents and lobbied hard for bus services for rural communities.
