Kay Mitchell has lived in Southend for more than 30 years and brought up her family here.

Having worked across support services most of her working life Kay has a clear understanding of social and emotional health, as well as systems of support. She has experience of multi agency working and managing case work. As a former councillor and cabinet member she is familiar with council processes and procedures. Kay is an activist for the NHS and preserving resident support services, having seen the impact of cuts over many years across the city. Kay has been involved in projects with residents including getting road and footway repairs done, pushing for Chalkwell access ramp to be reinstated, and attending water quality meetings. Kay regularly takes residents concerns on health, investment in infrastructure, transport and regreening the city to council meetings, while standing up for staff and students at the university and supporting protection of our green belt. Kay is a co-founder of a family friendly multi cultural festival celebrating our performers, art, culture and community, that also promotes local business. Kay has demonstrated that she is able to represent residents as a Green Party candidate working directly with residents on their priorities and continuing to improve outcomes in Chalkwell, applying strong values in social and environmental justice, and a good quality of life for all.
