I’m hearing a lot from some candidates about national and international issues.

People will always have views on those and that’s fair but this is a local election.
For me, it’s about Benwell, Scotswood and Denton Burn.
I live here, I work here, I grew up here. I see the same issues as everyone else every day.
I’m also hearing a lot of “I used to live here” or “I worked here at one point”.
For me, there’s a difference between having a past connection and actually being part of the community now.
Too often, party politics gets in the way of what residents actually need.
Let’s not make the same mistake again, just with different colours.
This should be about our community and getting things sorted properly.
