Statement to voters

Firstly, I want to say what a privilege it has already been to stand for election in Hazlemere.

Full statement

It’s been a real pleasure meeting so many kind and thoughtful people. Whether or not you support Reform UK and its values, if I’m elected, I will do my utmost to represent all the people of Hazlemere to the best of my ability.

I’ve always taken a keen interest in politics and current affairs. Sadly, that means I’ve watched our great country decline—and our county has not been immune. The people who currently represent us no longer reflect my values, nor, I believe, the values still held dear by the majority across Buckinghamshire and Great Britain.

I was once a proud Conservative voter—particularly under Margaret Thatcher. But since her time, I’ve seen a steady decline. The Conservative Party, in my view, has strayed so far from its principles that it abandoned people like me. I know I’m not alone in feeling this way. For those who looked to Labour for answers, it's taken less than a year for the cracks to show and for working people to be let down once again.
We’re constantly told to vote for the same old parties and expect something different—yet nothing changes. So, for me, it was time to step up.

This is my first time standing for office, and I know I have a lot to learn. But I am ready to do the work and learn what’s needed to do the job better than those who came before me. I want to leave things better than I find them—in this case for our children, and for the future we pass on to them. With your support, we can clean up the mess and build a better future for everyone.

Reform UK has become a new home for common-sense, conservative values. We believe in smaller government, personal responsibility, free speech, sound budgets, and policies that reward work and wealth creation. We need this kind of leadership not just nationally, but locally too.

Buckinghamshire Council is currently almost £300 million in debt. Yet our once-beautiful county is crumbling—roads and pavements are neglected, verges left unmown, flooding issues ignored. With a council budget of £1.3 billion, this is a fair question: Where is the money going?

If you elect me and my Reform UK colleagues, we promise to ask the tough questions and keep asking until we get real answers. We expect to uncover waste and inefficiency—and when we do, it will stop. Our priorities are clear: reduce (and ultimately eliminate) the debt, repair our roads, and restore pride in our community.
We must reject the centrally-imposed housing developments forced on us by the National Planning Policy Framework, and pushed through by weak Conservative representatives in our council chambers. We must stop ineffective spending and instead focus your council tax on the things you tell us matter.

We also need to make parking free in town centres, encouraging people to shop locally and support small businesses. More footfall means more life, more jobs, and the regeneration our towns urgently need.

There’s more to be done, no doubt. But you can trust that we will step up, speak out, and deliver real change.

Please vote for change on May 1st by supporting John Rhodes and myself in Hazlemere..

And if you’re reading this outside Hazlemere, please lend your vote to the Reform UK candidate in your area.
