Statement to voters
Hi all I am standing as one of the Labour candidates for Ward Councillor in the 1st May election.
Full statement
The Ward covers the area of Rossington, Bawtry and Austerfield.
Who am I ?
I have lived in Rossington since I was 11 years old. I studied first as a Stonemason then went on to University to do a Degree in Construction Management then after that did diplomas in employment Law, health & safety and also food hygiene. I have worked in many jobs but the last few years I have worked at Asda as a Butcher/Fishmonger and home shopping driver. I was the Lead National Health and safety rep with the GMB at Asda for 5 years through the covid pandemic. This was a challenging time for all, but I was part of the team that implemented all the national safety policies at the stores.
I am now the Branch President of the general GMB Branch that covers this Ward. I have helped many people in the Ward when they have had problems at work. I have also ran many Campaigns for better working conditions for workers.
I also own my own business and I have been able to use the business to support local events in the village, for example the summer and Christmas festivals at the Welfare, Holmscarr Center, The Royal care home and many more. I have donated raffle prizes to groups and charities to raise money for good causes. Along side others I have helped to grow our Rossington Market as I feel that is the beating heart of Rossington. Here at the market I have have residents approach me with council related issues which I have been able to resolve as a resident and candidate. I feel being here every week will give residents a first port of call if they have an issue they need sorting. I have also been supporting Bawtry residents for their up coming Arts festival and helped raise money at their events as well as going to the coffee mornings at the Library.
Since being selected as a candidate I have worked hard to get round all areas of the Ward talking to residents to see what they need and helped where I can or passed issues to the standing Councillors to be resolved. I always check up afterwards to make sure the resident is happy. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I am all about helping others. I hope to continue this as a Councillor. We feel that a full team is needed to continue the great work your labour councillors have done in the ward. Bob, Ken and myself work very well together, and we are confident that together we will make this Ward a place to be proud of.
If elected I will be available all week to dedicate to this very important role.
I hope I have your support and please don't forget to vote on the 1st May.

Thank you
