I’m Patience.
Full statement
I was born in Uganda and moved to the UK when I was nine. Soon after arriving, my life changed dramatically and I entered the care system. I remained in care until 21 and continued my education. My experiences in care shaped my values: compassion, resilience, and a determination to make sure people aren’t left to struggle alone.
One of the first children’s homes I lived in was in Myatt’s Field. Places like Marcus Lipton and Max Roach after-school clubs gave me structure, encouragement and a sense of belonging. I saw first-hand how youth services and safe community spaces can keep young people on positive paths—and how quickly things can unravel when that support isn’t there.
I’ve kept going with education even when it wasn’t easy. I studied Hair and Beauty at Lambeth College, then completed Painting and Decorating at Vauxhall College. I’m now studying Business Management at university and am in my penultimate year. Standing as a Green council candidate still feels surreal—but I know my background is a strength, not a barrier.
Advocacy has always been part of who I am. As a teenager, I was already helping other young people in care, navigate services and finding the right organisations for support. I grew up in Brixton, and I’m proud of what this community has given me. But I’ve also watched friends and long-standing residents pushed out by rising costs and regeneration that doesn’t feel like it’s for them. That’s why I want local decision-making that truly listens to residents—and backs it up with action.
If elected, I’ll focus on practical, people-first priorities:
• Protecting and expanding youth services, and keeping community spaces open and funded
• Standing up for care-experienced children and young people, with services that are easy to access and joined up
• Fighting for genuinely affordable housing, better repairs, and fairness for tenants
• Making sure housing improvements and refurbishments strengthens communities rather than displacing them as has happened across Lambeth.
Public service, to me, is about giving back to the communities that helped raise me. I want young people—especially those facing difficult circumstances—to know their voices matter, and that local politics can be a force for fairness, safety and opportunity. I’m standing with the Green Party because I believe Lambeth can be run in a way that protects what we love, supports those who need it most, and builds real community power.
