I’ve spent many years working in Knottingley & Ferrybridge, from my early days at ExPac and Bagleys as a teenager, to roles at William Hill on both Knottingley (where my mother was the manager) & Ferrybridge offices and eventually as a manager at Hutton’s before it went into liquidation.
These experiences have given me a strong connection to the area and a clear understanding of the challenges it faces.
Over time, I’ve witnessed a steady decline not only in this area but across the wider Wakefield district as a whole. High streets have struggled, opportunities have diminished and places we cherished and have fond memories of are gone forever. Like many of you, I’ve felt frustrated watching this happen, knowing our communities deserve better.
That’s why I made the decision to stop sitting on the side-lines and take action. I’m not doing this for the sake of being a councillor or for a pay check I want to be part of the change our area needs, working to restore pride, create opportunities and build a stronger future for both current residents and the next generation. I believe in practical solutions, honest communication and putting local people first.
My background in customer relations and marketing has taught me how to listen, adapt, deliver results and promote our area, skills I’m committed to using to benefit our community. I care deeply about this area because it has shaped who I am and I want to help shape a more positive future for it.
