I value this community and want to see our principles and values reflected in decisions that affect us, now and into the future.

When I offered to stand for the Hardwick County Council seat, I understood that the local party's resources would have to be directed at those seats that were identified as more winnable targets, but felt it was important that a Green candidate appeared on the ballot paper - not just for committed Green voters but also to give an option for anyone disenchanted with the so-called "main" parties.

The massive Conservative majority in Hardwick at the last election is under real pressure and an increased Green vote will mean that, even if we do not win this seat, then our voice will have to be heard by any elected representative.

We have a stronger message and appeal than ever and next week's elections give us a tremendous opportunity to build on our progress in Suffolk.
