Statement to voters
It would be my honour to represent Sedgley ward, one of Bury’s most culturally distinctive and diverse communities, as a Bury Councillor.
Full statement
I believe that local action shapes national culture, and that the everyday decisions made close to home matter when holding national government to account. Supporting a community’s prosperity is not abstract — it starts with attention to detail, practical action, and listening to residents.
As a local interior design business owner, I am directly invested in our community’s success. I work locally, I employ local trades, and I contribute to the local economy every day. My business also supports local charities, including Regiment Support Services and Trewyn Sands Children’s Trust, organisations that stand beside those who have given the most to their communities and those who are most vulnerable.
I am deeply rooted in community life and try to live by the values I speak about. As a mum of school‑aged children and a high school governor, I am motivated by the responsibility to secure a positive, safe future for every child. At a time when children are navigating an increasingly complex digital world, I will advocate for high‑quality education and for safe, supportive schools — for pupils, teachers, and SEN communities alike.
I give time to my neighbours and friends, sharing moments of both joy and difficulty. I believe strong communities are built through everyday acts of care and personal responsibility. Whether that means practical help, encouragement, or simply showing up, communities thrive when people contribute in whatever way they can.
My priorities for Sedgley are clear and practical: support strong community representation and engagement in local concerns; align council representation with constituent needs; safer streets; well‑maintained road gullies and grit bins; tackling parking difficulties; fly‑tipping and littering; securing safer roads and adequate pavements; laser-focused support for critical local facilities and amenities.
I believe everyone deserves clean air, safe food, secure incomes, and neighbourhoods that feel safe and welcoming — communities where fundamental human needs are met and shared values are reflected.
As a Green Party councillor, I would champion genuine partnership between residents and the council, ensuring every pound of public spending delivers real, meaningful impact. Guided by Green Party values of people, planet, and community wealth generation, I believe prosperity begins with small, positive actions — taken together.
