Statement to voters
I have lived in Ealing, London's greenest borough, since 1999.
Full statement
I am a passionate environmentalist and am a member of the Labour Party's Socialist and and Environmental Resources Association. I have recently visited all of the different parts of Hanger Hill ward to talk to local people and to find out about local issues and concerns. I believe that the best interests of Hanger Hill ward, its estates, and its communities, can best be represented by electing three Labour councillors who are part of a majority Labour Group, where, if Labour is re-elected to control Ealing Council, key decisions affecting local life in Hanger Hill ward would be made.
Earlier in my career I served as a councillor in another London borough, so I have useful experience to offer. Before that, I taught English in Japan for a year, so would be interested in working with Hanger Hill's Japanese community on local concerns. To be an elected politician it helps to have hinterland - I speak fluent French and German and am a keen member of Ealing's town twinning group with Marcq-en-Barœul which is a suburb of the French city of Lille. I am a cyclist who loves pedalling along the Grand Union Canal towpath and it's great to see new cycle paths springing up across the borough.
