I moved to Springfield in Milton Keynes in 2024 from St Neots and am married to James
I worked as a High School teacher and Head of Department in Social Sciences for 20 years before I retired a couple of years ago. The students were aged 11 to 18 years. The role also included handling budgets, liaising with other professionals externally and within the academy. It also involved creating school improvement plans and seeing these through to fruition. During this time I was also involved in teacher training. Prior to that I was an Early Years support advisor working in Norfolk supporting 60 Early Years setting in schools and private nurseries.
SInce we moved to MK we have visited Fishermead regularly as our Doctor's surgery and Pharmacy is there. While appreciating the multicultural nature of the ward, I would look to ensure all residents are equally supported. It is clearly a deprived area and I aim to identify and support the much needed areas for improvement.
My priority if elected would be to try and help families across the ward. Given my education background it would be a priority to get better access to SEND support.
Having been to Tinkers Bridge and Coffee Hall, there are clearly housing issues which need working on. Working with resident groups to get major repairs done would also be a priority.
