Full statement
I’m a father of 4 wonderful kids and a Cas lad born and bred. I grew up on Council estates in social houses part of a single parent family. We were stuck scraping by on welfare my entire childhood. Often we had to choose between electricity or food each week, I truly know what it’s like to struggle to get by and how tough it can be.
My family has called Airedale home for coming into two decades now and it is the hotbed of homes in the town.
I currently work for the NHS, before that Central Government, and even the best part of a decade for the Department for a Work and a Pensions. Most of my working time so far has been serving the country and the local population, supporting the vulnerable and helping them rebuild their lives. Standing for Council to serve my neighbours is second nature to me so I’m not a novice in doing what’s right for the people.
I have seen how Wakefield Council have let where we live fall behind other areas in the district. Labour have let us down to prioritise vanity projects like tens of millions to buy The Ridings, or give away our buildings for £1.
At the moment Wakefield Council serves only itself and what Westminster whispers to it. They rely on you to not ask questions or care where your money goes and take away your parks, leave your roads to ruin let crime run riot and take away your kids safe spaces. It has to stop.
On May 7th you have three votes.
