Statement to voters

Dear Resident,
I hope you will consider supporting me in the
forthcoming local elections.

Full statement

It would be a pleasure and an honour to represent the Wardle, Shore and West Littleborough ward and with your support I would like to be your elected representative and your voice within the council.
As your ward councillor I would listen very
carefully to the issues that are of the utmost importance to you and I share your concerns.

Let me tell you a little bit about myself;
I am a 68-year-old musician with a passion for community service who with your help would
very much like be your next locally elected champion for our ward. I was born and bred here, this is where my heart lies and this is where I want to use my experience and local
knowledge to improve the area we call home.
I have a compassionate spirit with the interests of others at heart and co-founded the Healey Dell Heritage Centre and Tea Rooms in 2013, a volunteer-driven initiative supporting vulnerable people with learning difficulties and rehabilitation needs. An incredible project and one that supported many Individuals helping them reach their full potential. My desire to help others goes much further too, I was a trustee and director of The Heroes Project (Forever Manchester), supporting young adults with disabilities and was honoured as Mensa Businessman of the Year in 1996.

I have been fortunate and successful in life and now want to use my experience and ability
to further the interests of our ward. It has been very clear from speaking to many residents over recent weeks how we share a strong sense of local priorities. In other words, your priorities are my priorities too;
• The constant over development of our area with an aging infrastructure that simply
cannot cope with the additional demands.
• Basic council services such as bin collections and highway maintenance are failing and yet our council tax increases at an alarming rate.
• The cost-of-living crisis is a financial worry for us all and yet our council tax continues
to rise year upon year and I believe there is a far more cost-effective way to manage
services and direct your council tax to where it will make a real difference.

With your support on 7th May and by working together I genuinely believe we can make a
positive difference to our ward.
Kind Regards,

Phil Barrett.
