Statement to voters
I live with my family in the heart of Havenstreet village and already serve the community as Chair or our Parish Council.
Full statement
Most significantly I’ve spearheaded a campaign to get Havenstreet back on the bus network and represented resident’s interests in dealing with the all-too frequent disruption caused by roadworks in the village and surrounding area. This ward, one of the island’s largest, is a mix of larger villages and small hamlets. There are many thriving communities and businesses which deserve a representative at County Hall who will put their interests first at every opportunity.
My career in the British Army has given me wide experience of leading teams, managing change and budgets whilst being accountable for delivering the required outcomes. Just the skills needed on our council.
I volunteer as a Director/Trustee of the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, one of the Island’s top heritage and tourist attractions and a significant local employer. I fully understand the challenges currently faced by all Island businesses and the tourist sector in particular, a thriving tourist economy is absolutely vital for our Island. I strongly believe that our council must do everything it can to support all local businesses.
I am standing to be your Isle of Wight councillor because I believe that it’s time for change in County Hall. The traditional parties and the ‘Independents’ have had their chance. Reform UK is ready to step in and deal with the issues facing us, starting with the council’s finances which are in a dire state – fresh thinking and a push to further drive down costs, whilst delivering the services our residents need and deserve, is urgently required.
I’m ready to play my part in delivering the common-sense solutions that the Island needs. I’m right behind Reform UK’s core values – Family, Community, Country, and am prepared to work hard to serve all members of our Island community with honesty and integrity.
