I have lived in Shanklin for 10 years, and so understand the needs of the local community. My politics are firmly rooted in the centre ground. I grew up in Nottingham and have previously worked at the University of Southampton as a Senior Research Fellow, on a supermarket shop floor in various roles, in a call centre, and for a geotechnical engineering company. I've been a Labour Party member since 2010.

If elected, I shall:

• Prioritise finding long term solutions to flooding in the town centre, and the closure of Leeson Road and other local roads
• Back the Bay Area Place Plan so Shanklin, Lake and Sandown share decisions and investment fairly, boosting jobs and protecting the coast
• Work with the national government to sort Island‑wide council funding and pressure on services, especially adult social care and children’s services
• Push for better Island‑wide transport and connections; including ferries, road improvements, parking, and bus services
• Support more local powers for the Island, fair funding, and building genuinely affordable homes
• Keep a close eye on housing standards and press for firm action against poor landlords
• Make sure Labour’s major increase in GP, dental and SEND services on the Island keeps moving forward

Every community on the Isle of Wight faces major challenges following years of decline under Conservative and (ex-Tory) Reform and Independent politicians. With the new Labour government’s positive change agenda, it is clearly essential that Councillors should work hard on behalf of residents to help improve their lives. If elected as your representative, it will be my top priority to be both available and accountable with a view to building a more compassionate and prosperous future for local people. I'm certain that, with your support, we can make a genuine difference in Shanklin South.
