Statement to voters
I’ve called Redbridge and Essex home for over 50 years, and this borough has shaped who I am.
Full statement
I'm standing for Redbridge Borough Council because I believe our community deserves councillors who are truly rooted in local life, who put people and nature before profit.
My community involvement began when I joined Redbridge Cycling Club in 2012. As Women's Representative on their committee for six years, I discovered a passion for making cycling accessible to everyone. That led me to projects like Cycle for All, supporting families on low incomes and SEN groups, as well as leading women-only rides in Redbridge.
I support women, people of colour, and members of the LGBTQI+ community to feel seen, empowered, and physically strong through every stage of their lives. I'm especially passionate about helping menopausal women, who are let down by health services due to decades of neglect in medical research.
I spent ten years as a live-in carer for my disabled grandmother, which gave me a deep personal understanding of the challenges faced by those with mobility restrictions. From navigating public transport, our pavements, or local green spaces in a wheelchair. That experience stays with me, and it drives my commitment to a borough that works for everyone.
I spend as much time outdoors as possible, protecting Redbridge's green spaces is close to my heart. If lost, they are almost impossible to reclaim. I have serious concerns about the planned changes to Fairlop Waters and the impact they will have on local wildlife, it is decisions like this that demands we have councillors who will listen to residents and stand firm.
I want to work with you on the issues that matter most: sustainable housing, cleaner transport, protecting our environment, supporting local businesses, and building health services that truly serve our whole community.
Let's build a greener, fairer Redbridge, united together.
