Statement to voters

As your taxes and the cost of living go up, nothing works anymore! I believe that we are on a doom loop which soon will be irretrievable.

Full statement

That’s why I am standing! I’m writing to ask for your support. If elected, I will donate my councillor’s allowance to charity.

I have lived in the Wokingham area for over sixty years. You may recall that I was the Conservative Leader of the Council through Covid. I stood down because I could no longer support the Tory Government, a party which since 1990, has not been conservative nor unionist.

I am a conservative … I believe in small government, enterprise, ambition, the individual, compassion, low taxation, competence, the rule of law, freedom, personal responsibility, free market economics, fiscal responsibility, sovereignty, and the Union. I am extremely proud to be English, a nation with a long successful history of achievement. England created the world’s modern way of life.

There is not a sliver of difference between Labour, LibDems and the Tories, who collectively have brought a proud, talented, wealthy and powerful nation to its knees – big government, high taxation, national humiliation, weak defence, huge borrowings, curtailment of personal liberty, loss of freedom of speech, a strongly woke agenda, net zero, poor health and education, DEI, abandonment of Ulster, Gibraltar, Chagos, substantial waste, reversal of Brexit, ludicrous net zero policies, ineffective policing and border control, an eroded justice system and worst of all incompetence and mendacity to a level never seen before. When Starmer said this was a government of service he meant self-service for those living off the taxpayer himself included.

It has been interesting to see much of the good my administration did, being claimed by the current Lib-Dem administration as their initiative. Other than declaring a borough of sanctuary… the current administration’s only success has been to run down reserves.

This is a borough election, locally my focus will be:

• Administrative Competence, Transparency and Honesty – No gimmicks or photoshoots but defending the interests of our residents in Westminster and locally. Balancing budgets and ensuring every penny is spent on residents’ needs. Publishing accounts and budgets.
• Education that delivers — Maintaining high standards in our infant, junior, primary and secondary schools. Making sure there are enough places, enough teachers, and enough teaching assistants so no child in Norreys falls through the cracks.
• A real voice for Norreys— Norreys is too easily forgotten and ignored by the Borough. Your concerns don’t always align with the rest of Wokingham, and you need a councillor who will stand up for this community specifically.
• Your community, your say — Major decisions that affect Norreys should involve Norreys residents. Whether it’s the Borough becoming a preferred destination for asylum seekers, significant developments, or changes to local services — you should have a say before decisions are made, not after.
• Local people first for housing — If you’ve been on the waiting list in Norreys, you should be prioritised over people moving into the area. Our residents have paid into the system and they should come first.
• Safer roads and less congestion — Norreys has been battered by the same traffic failures for years: potholes that go unrepaired, drains that stay blocked, and road surfaces that crumble faster than they’re patched. Dangerous junctions, relentless speeding, and constant rat running are now routine, fuelled by heavy A329 pressure and years of inaction.
• Protecting our green spaces —must remain free of parking charges and safe for everyone — families, dog walkers, and young people alike. These spaces belong to the community, not the council’s revenue targets.

I won’t pretend this is just about local issues. The truth is Britain’s infrastructure is seriously fractured. The cost of living is out of control. Public services are crumbling. Immigration is unsustainable. The Tories, Labour and LibDems have taken turns running the country and have brought it to its knees. They have broken Britain. A vote for any of them is a vote for more incompetence, dishonesty, and defeat.

You don’t have to keep voting for those that have let you down. If you want a councillor who works for the community without reward, please give me your vote on 7th May.
