Statement to voters

I am pleased to announce that I am to stand in the upcoming County elections for the people of Stoke Park and Sprites (was Chantry division but new boundaries mean these two wards will come under a new name of Belstead Hills).

Full statement

I lived in this area for 47 years and know and understand the issues.
Let me make a few things clear.
I have never been afraid of losing. My residents decide and that’s that. No arguments.
When you are a season ticket holder for over 30 years, for a team like Ipswich you expect the great with the bad moments. It’s part of the excitement and joy.
Politics is the same. I’m a true Blue!
It requires constant hard work, not soundbites or leaving for another team.
All I ask is that I’m judged on how I have helped hundreds of people and carried out my many responsibilities over 20 years. I have always been honest and outspoken and put residents first. And now as a Cabinet Member I dedicate my whole week to Communities across the town and Suffolk.
There will be elections again next year for the new unitary shadow council, which has now been paused until after May because it’s impossible to do both properly, so this time it’s a short term position and also for LGR to be delivered as residents deserve, the council officers need experienced councillors - This is not the time for Learning on the Job Newbies promising the earth and talking about issues that are not the remit of local authorities, like immigration.
It’s not a time for myths and half stories of populism.
It’s a time for grown up politics whether the government decides 1 unitary or 3 for Suffolk.
I’ll be delivering and knocking and if anyone wants to help even if just once, please let me know.
