Statement to voters
Dear Resident It only seems like yesterday that I was campaigning for the first time back in 2017.
Full statement
In that time I have dealt with flooding, crime, roads, footpaths, bus stops, school places, libraries, broadband and regularly attended Parish Meetings. Along with our fair share of natural disasters.
Through the pandemic we saw the community in Wythall come together to assist others along with unprecedented furlough and business payments from government with over £70m alone injected into Worcestershire and are now seeing a hugely successful vaccination roll out.
2018 was also a difficult year. We worked tirelessly to help over 300 residents flooded internally with recovery, clean-up and dealing with the disgraceful way many were treated by insurance companies. Our local MP Sajid Javid was hugely helpful to me making calls to the CEO’s of unresponsive insurance companies on behalf of residents to save their homes.
Crime was the main issue faced back in 2017 and still is. However in response we delivered over 3500 smart water anti-burglary kits to residents, drastically reducing burglaries. The fight against crime and speeding continues.
A well timed success has been the rollout of multiple superfast broadband connections in rural Wythall. We are committed at WCC to expanding this program even further.
At County I have held the position as chair Corporate and Communities before moving into the Cabinet for Corporate and Communities and more recently as the Cabinet Member for Economy and skills.
Aside from my Councillor roles I have also been active in fund raising for national and local causes including the Wythall Memory Cafe, I have competed in four London Marathons since 2017 raising over £20000 for charities and local causes.
With the additional support I receive with a Conservative district, county and national administration with support from our excellent MP Bradley Thomas I have the power to deliver for the people of Wythall. I would be honoured to be able to represent you for another four years.
