Statement to voters
Dear East Surrey Residents, I am delighted to be standing as the Independent Candidate in the forthcoming East Surrey Unitary Election.
Full statement
For the past two years, in my own time and at my own expense, I have attended many meetings and conferences in the UK covering political topics including, this year: Mending Britain's Broken Economy; The Freedom Festival at Buckingham University; Spectator events; The Rule of Law; and Free Trade; a Gala Dinner at London Guildhall and a Policy Summit discussing Border Force in Yorkshire. These events are useful for keeping my thinking current and, gave me the opportunity to meet councillors who are already in a unitary council and who were willing to answer my questions on how a unitary council works in their experience.
Born in Hampshire, I grew up in the leafy New Forest District. I have lived in Tandridge for 41 Years and have always worked with my local community, initially in a NHS hospital pharmacy, as a part-time Head Gymnastics Coach at my local sports' centre for 34 years and as a Primary Teacher in Surrey and Sussex. I specialised in teaching Global Education, PSHE and Sport. The British Council enabled me to visit a remote village school in the Gambia and I was one of ten teachers who went to Mauritius to research Citizenship.
I first became interested in politics 11 years ago and have been passionately involved ever since. I stood in European, local and Parliamentary elections before becoming an Independent District Councillor for Felbridge (2021-24) where I sat on Planning and Planning Policy Committees, Gatwick New Runway and Community Infrastructure Working Groups. My approach is not party-led but issue-led. I am genuinely interested in people and politics and I appreciate the natural world. I have no political party ties and would be working only for the residents of our villages and our countryside.
Since May 2024, I have continued to attend the South Tandridge Health & Wellbeing Network meetings, the last 2025 session was held in Lingfield. If elected I hope to be able to use my experience in health & sport to improve our healthcare.Judy Moore. Independent Candidate for East Surrey Unitary Council
