Statement to voters

As a Hulme councillor, I will work night and day to help local people and to champion local communities and wildlife.

Full statement

In Hulme, Robin has shown the Council let 1,312 mature trees be destroyed by developers over 20 years (2000-2020), that's two destroyed every week! Shockingly, there are no Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs)
in Hulme Ward unless inside Conservation Areas. As Hulme councillor, Robin will work hard to stop this nonsense.

Robin will reveal the shocking lack of proper crime data
being published for Hulme Ward by Greater Manchester Police which they are required to do every month.

  1. GMP STOP-and-SEARCH – data MISSING 72 months!
  2. GMP records of 14 categories of STREET CRIME – data MISSING 72 months!
    According to police.uk, due to a change in Greater Manchester Police IT systems, police.uk received no street crime data, and no stop-and-search data from July 2019 onwards “The force is working to rectify this issue and provide the missing data over the coming months”.
    Compounding the problem, every month police.uk computers automatically relay the BLANK DATA to dozens of third parties, including people wanting to live in places with low crime rates, safe from muggings or car theft. Here is what crimerate.co.uk say on their “must see” website: "We are actively working to encourage
    more open data initiatives in the UK, since Greater Manchester Police do not maintain open data for their area".

As a councillor, Robin is keen to tackle air pollution. His records show Manchester Metropolitan University has a long track record of being the regional hotspot for not only NO2 but also particulate air pollution. PM2.5 and PM10 cause muddled thinking leading to fewer passes in soccer matches, slower moves in chess and - alarmingly - lower grades in schools and universities. Clean air is essential

Elsewhere, Robin created jobs around Wigan Pier; and protected dozens of ponds around Wigan, Standish and Coppull and he led Lancashire Newt Group negotiations to win "2 ponds for every pond lost" in the Manchester Airport Second Runway Public Inquiry. Across Greater Manchester his hard work created rather a lot of Sites of Biological Importance (SBIs) and a nationally important SSSI in the Ribble Valley.
Robin was adviser to hundreds of starter businesses in Lancashire, including Pakistani and Gujarati first-time exporters; in Nyerighaza (Hungary) Robin set up a centre to support small businesses; in crisis-torn Albania Robin set up a unit to bump-start small private enterprises; in Kyrgyzstan he helped dozens of small businesses;
in the Hindu Kush (Afghanistan) he helped dozens of remote villages use their traditional skills to make export-quality jewellery with Lapis Lazuli; in the Kyber Pass (Afghan-Pakistan border), Robin documented widespread looting by Italian and French multinational talc companies; in the Gobi Desert (Mongolia) Robin helped 100,000 herders who lost their sheep, goats, horses, yaks and camels in a Climate Emergency, by helping them turn rapidly to profitable gold panning.
