Full statement
Catherine was elected with a landslide majority as your local councillor back in 2019, representing Clandon & Horsley. She has held many positions on GBC Boards and working groups and is currently Chair of the Licensing Committee, Vice-Chair of Overview & Scrutiny, R4GV’s representative on the Local Plan Panel, covers the Climate Change Board when needed and represents GBC on the Surrey Hills National Landscape Board.
Catherine is one of our candidates for the election to the West Surrey Unitary Authority on May 7th 2026. She will be standing for the Horsley Ward which is made up of East & West Horsley, Effingham, Ockham, Ripley and the village of Wisley.Catherine says “I am proud to have supported many residents over the years and am excited to be standing for election once more. The opportunity to serve as a local councillor has been incredibly frustrating at times, but every achievement, no matter how small, renews my determination and motivation to carry on.”
She is also very involved locally as Chair of Horsley’s Climate Action Network group which she set up, and a founding member of Horsley’s Repair Café. She finds driving for the Wheel of Care incredibly rewarding and is a member of the local WI (although attending these meetings is a challenge!). Catherine is a member of St. Mary’s Church in West Horsley, and if she has any spare time she can be found gardening at home or on her allotment (which she shares with her partner).
