Statement to voters

I’m standing for election as a Liberal Democrat because my belief in democracy is personal, not abstract.

Full statement

Having grown up under a communist system, I understand what it means when voices are silenced—and why it matters that every voice here in West Lancashire is heard, respected, and represented.

I’ve lived and worked in this community since 2003. Over that time, I’ve seen how West Lancashire has changed—economically, socially, and demographically—and I know that the solutions we need must reflect the realities on the ground. I believe in strong local government: decisions made closer to the people they affect, with real accountability and local knowledge at their heart.

We face clear challenges. Housing must be affordable, but also sustainable, protecting our environment while supporting the traditional industries that define our area. Issues like flooding and sewage in our waterways aren’t just national concerns; they affect our fields, our homes, and our health right here. These are priorities I will fight to address.

As a parent with two children still in school, I see every day how vital well-funded, high-quality education is for our future. Living in a rural area, I also know how limited public transport and poor infrastructure can hold people back—from accessing jobs, education, and services.

My commitment to our local healthcare services is deeply personal. My daughter spent three months in the neonatal unit at Ormskirk Hospital, and like so many families, we have relied on emergency services in times of need. These are not abstract institutions—they are lifelines, and they must be protected and strengthened.

I want West Lancashire to be a place where families can thrive—where we protect our environment, support local industries, invest in our public services, and build a fairer, more resilient community for everyone.
