St Matthew’s is a community I care about deeply. My grandparents settled on Skeffington Rd when they came to the UK 60 years ago. My family live off Ribbleton Lane, and my child attends Quwwatul Islam on Peel Hall St.

In my day job, as an NHS nurse, I see the pressure people are facing every day and how public services improve people’s lives. I’m active in the community, volunteering and advocating for women and disabled people. I’m also proud to support a faith-based charity that helps people in Preston.

Record of delivering for St Matthew’s
We all know St Matthew’s is a caring community to live in, but residents raise concerns about fly-tipping, littering and community safety. These are all issues our local Labour team has been working on with residents. Success so far includes:

• Secured CCTV on key streets and increased police presence
• Tackled over 700 fly-tipping cases with stronger enforcement
• Secured additional street cleaning and environmental improvements

Supporting people in St Matthew’s

• Preston Labour has been delivering real support for our residents:
• Cost-of-living help, including up to £400 for struggling families
• Council tax support for pensioners
• Free swimming for children, young people and those on low incomes
